Hunter is a British brand, probably best known for its green Wellington boot that they call the original. It isn't actually the first boot made but it's become iconic.

The founder was Henry Lee Norris, an American, who, in 1856, started the company, The North British Rubber Company, in Scotland, with just four people. They were using the newly patented and innovative vulcanization process to make very durable rubber products, including boots.

The company grew quickly and by the mid-1870s they had a staff of nearly 600.

What really made this company was World War I. Over the duration of the war it is estimated they manufactured more than a million boots for the servicemen.

The company was called upon again in 1939 with the outbreak of World War II.

By 1956 it was known as Hunter Boots. That is the year they created their "original" Green Wellington which has become the icon of the company. It is still made on the original last and all 28 parts are still put together by hand.

This is a boot that is so much more than fashion or style. This is a boot that is put together with know-how, pride and integrity.
